As the temps here reach boiling point, I thought it might be time to reflect on cooler times… yet with a hellfire theme? Hmmm… A winter image from the beginning of a roll of redscale I just got developed! Guess I’ve been working on it for awhile eh? These trees, from Stewart Park in Ithaca, may look familiar, as I seem to shoot them a lot. But how can I resist?

Is it spring yet? No? Well, better make the most of the winter then.

OK, the Lensbaby fisheye is MUY FUN! The moveability (mobilty?) of the entire lens means you’re not restricted to the usual full circle fisheye madness and can be creative with partial globes and corners. Combined with special soft focus aperture discs, you can get a nice gradual fade as it curves into darkness.

Still getting used to the simple twist focus of the Composer tho. After years of gripping and manipulation on the Original’s bellows, it feels like cheating!

Someone suggested this looked like it was taken from the point of view of the prey, and exuded a feeling of feral panic. Not exactly what I was aiming for, but it kinda fits. And feral panic just sounds cool, so we’ll go with that :)

Another lovely use of the Lensbaby, which I took out for a walk recently at a nature preserve in Danby. More to come!

A splash of unexpected color from cross-processing some Elitechrome 100 slide film in regular developing chemicals.

Another thick morning mist, another excuse to grab my gear and run up to Cornell to try to capture the magic! This time I didn’t even take the time to change out of my sweats, and of course had an embarrassing encounter with my editor on the walk home. Oops!

The other weekend, we drove down to Philly for a Flight of the Conchords gig and visit to my super duper friend Julie. Despite a farcical (and annoying) oh-my-god-we-forgot-the-tickets turn-around a half an hour into the trip, we managed to get there by lunchtime and enjoyed the most gloriously mellow day exploring the city in gorgeous 80F sunshine. There were loads of photos to be had, of course. Only when I got home and uploaded/developed them did I realize just how amazing the light was, even for high afternoon. Check out some of the other photos to see some truly fantastic colours, straight out of camera! Incredible! Sure, I had a polarizer on the digi, but still… barely no processing required (sorry, I’m still a sucker for vignette…)

I’ll take a brief break from the Lensbaby to bring you some Lubitel love. You don’t get a break from trees trees trees tho! If anything, there are twice as many in this shot, as it’s a clever double exposure. Well, the clever bit is up for debate…
